Grand Valley State's Dewey Newsome continues to make progress following a stroke Sunday evening.
Sandra Jennings, GVSU administrative assistant reports that Newsome was admitted to Mary Free Bed Hospital and undergoing 5-6 hours of rehabilitation each day and making consistent progress.
According the Newsome's wife Lanna, Dewey took twelve assisted steps yesterday and at 90% speech comprehension, says Mrs. Newsome "Rehab keeps him tired but they want him to stay awake so he will experience restful sleep. Sooooo if you visit, wake him up!!!"
Lanna is welcoming guests. The best time to visit is 12:00 noon til 1:30 pm, and after 3:30 pm. Note: After 8:00 pm access to the hospital becomes limited.
