.: UNC Raises Nearly $5K in Relay for Life

Greeley, CO , July 2nd, 2007

Six members of the University of Northern Colorado swimming & diving team, plus coach Nancy Hinrichs, helped raise money for the third annual UNC Relay for Life.

On March 30, the UNC Relay for Life, held in conjunction with the American Cancer Society raised $38,000 at the school's recreation center. Junior Kati Falger was the event chair, and also swims the freestyle for the Bears' swimming & diving team.

"We are doing this because we are fighting for a cause in hope of finding a cure," said Falger in an interview with the Greeley Tribune. "Life is too short not to fight for something you believe in."

Other members of the swimming & diving team included Katie Schmitt and Chesney Randolf, Michelle McReynolds, Nikki Plunkard and Lizzy Wyman. The group of six, along with coach Hinrichs, raised $4,745 as a team for the event.
