The Illinois Tech swim teams enjoyed victories in one of their strongest performances of the season. The Scarlet Hawks outscored Millikin University 129-73 on the women’s side and 120-69 for the men. The women’s team won all but one event, while the men’s team 9 of 11 events. Double victories by Nicolle Mallinger (200 Fr, 100 Fl), Amanda Babicz (100 Fr, 500 Fr), Sarah Stone (200 IM, 100 Bk) and Jef Larson (100 Fl, 100 Br) lead the way for Illinois Tech. Coach Bond stated, “I am pleased with the results. We saw a few season bests this weekend and the swimmers are starting to feel better. Our training over break was pretty intense and the team did a great job of stepping up and meeting the challenge. Our focus from here through the end of the season is on speed, power and race strategy. We should expect to see times improve each meet.” Both teams travel to St. Louis next weekend for a quad meet with St. Louis University, Lincoln College, and NAIA rival – Lindenwood University. The Meet will be Saturday, the 27th, at 1pm.
