.: Colgate Men Fall To Cornell, 163-114

The Colgate men’s swimming and diving team lost its final road dual meet of the season to Cornell, 163-114, on Saturday, Jan. 20, in Ithaca.

Senior Greg Dunlavey had one of his best swims in the 100 back this season to finish third with a time of 53.45. He posted his second-best time of the year, 1:59.13, in the 200 back to claim second place.

Sophomore Stephen Haskin was less than three points away from his personal-best on the one-meter board, earning a score of 263.92 to take third place. He was fourth in the three-meter event with his third-highest point total of the year, 242.70.

Junior Zach Whitman earned first-place points in two events, posting a time of 53.60 in the 100 fly and swimming the 100 IM in 56.39. Freshman Cameron Voell posted a personal-best time of 5:05.51 to earn first-place points in the 500 free.

Colgate took the top two spots in the 100 breast. Junior Simon Rosen won the event with a time of 1:02.54, and sophomore Scott Dunlavey was second, finishing in a season-best time of 1:02.80. Dunlavey placed third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:21.16.

Colgate’s top 200 medley relay, composed of Greg Dunlavey, Rosen, Whitman and sophomore George Bennitt, posted the team’s second-fastest time of the season, 1:38.53, to finish fourth.

Freshman Robert Rutkowski was second in two events, with a time of 58.70 in the 100 IM and a time of 54.32 in the 100 fly. He posted a personal-best time of 4:31.39 in the 400 IM to finish fourth, while senior Dave Hill took third in the event, finishing in 4:21.24.

Sophomore Rick McMahon was second in the 500 free with a time of 5:08.01. Senior Zach Grobengieser finished second in the 100 free, touching the wall in 49.20, and was third in the 50 free with a time of 22.99.

The Raiders are home for a tri-meet with Binghamton and UMass-Amherst on Saturday, Jan. 27, starting at 1:00 p.m., in Lineberry Natatorium. It will be the team’s final meet before the Patriot League Championships, Feb. 15-17, at Bucknell.
