After dominating day one of its two-day dual against the University of Indianapolis (Ind.) the Truman women’s swim team came out of the starting blocks on fire in the second day of competition. The Bulldogs ran away with wins in the 10 of the 11 events swam on the day, to down the Greyhounds by a 148-57 score.
The Bulldogs had six individual winners and two relay team victories on the day. Along with the wins, Truman had four swimmers earn trips to the NCAA Division II National Championships in mid-March by swimming ‘A’ cut or ‘B’ cut times on the day.
Whitney Wodstrchill and Emily Pufall were the top individual performers for Truman, with each coming away with two victories apiece. Pufall was a two-time ‘B’ cut qualifier, earning her marks in the 50 free (24.37) and 100 free (53.11), en route to wins in both events. Wodstrchill recorded her own ‘B’ cut times with victories in the 500 free (10:37.89) and 1,000 free (5:12.64).
Lija Kaleps-Clark was Truman’s lone ‘A’ cut qualifier, swimming a season-best time of 2:05.13 to place first in the 200 back.
The Bulldogs had three other individual winners in the final day’s action. Brittany Anderson recorded a ‘B’ cut time of 2:11.38 to place first in the 200 IM, while Lindsay Vaughn rounded out Truman’s nationals qualifiers with a victorious ‘B’ cut time of 2:25.00 in the 200 breast. Katie Welsh was the final individual winner for Truman, swimming a time of 2:11.94 in the 200 fly.
The Bulldogs won both relay events held on the day. The 200 medley relay squad of Emily Greenwood, Danielle Odenthall, Nicole Sharp and Kate Aherne recorded a time of 1:50.72 to place first in the event. Aherne and Greenwood combined again on the victorious 200 free relay squad, with teammates Pufall and Catherine Sonnichsen chipping in to help the squad swim a time of 1:37.39.
Truman will host two of its biggest Division II rivals when Missouri-Rolla rolls into Kirksville at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, followed by a showdown with 2006 NCAA Division II runner-up, Drury at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27. Both dual meets are in Pershing Natatorium.

Jan. 12, 2007 – Competing in its first competition of 2007, the Truman women’s swim team dominated day one of its two-day dual against the University of Indianapolis on Friday night. After 11 events, the Bulldogs lead the Greyhounds by a 136-69 score.
Truman won seven events overall, including one relay victory and six individual wins.
On the relay side of the pool, the 400 medley relay team of Emily Greenwood, Brittany Anderson, Laura Harp and Kate Aherne recorded a time of 3:56.98 to claim the Bulldogs’ first win on the night.
Truman had two swimmers punch their tickets to the NCAA Division II National Championships with ‘A’ cut times. Greenwood took first-place in the 100 back with a qualifying time of 57.85, while Whitney Wodstrchill earned her own ‘A’ cut time in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:08.13 to finish first in the event.
The Bulldogs had four other individual winners on the night.
Molly Polette continued her stellar 2006-07 season with a first-place finish in the 400 IM (4:36.14), while Emily Pufall earned points for Truman by placing first in the 100 free (53.43). Anderson and Harp rounded out the Bulldog domination with victories in the 100 breast (1:07.16) and 100 fly (58.37), respectively.
