The SMU women's swimming and diving team claimed the Conference USA Championship crown for the second consecutive season with a total of 853 points and notched their 11th consecutive conference title. The men's team also claimed the C-USA Invitational crown for the second consecutive season, totaling 923 points.
For individual awards for the women, Petra Klosova was named C-USA Swimmer of the Meet while head coach Steve Collins was honored with C-USA Swimming Coach of the Year. This marks the seventh season Collins has been named conference coach of the year.
On the men's side, Ian Clark was named C-USA Swimmer of the Meet while head coach Eddie Sinnott was honored with C-USA Swimming Coach of the Year for the second year. This is the eighth time Sinnott has been named conference coach of the year.
The women scored the second most points in championship history and won 14 total events. They took one, two, three in four event and were top two in two events.
The night started with Anja Carman and Katie Roberts posting NCAA B qualifying times in the 1650 free. SMU remains the defending 1650 free champions as Carman touched in first with a time of 16:29.57. Roberts cruised in for second with a season-best time of 16:32.95 while Federica Felloni posted a career-best time of 17:05.86 to place fourth.
Michael Dmitriev won the men's 1650 free with a season-best and NCAA B qualifying time of 15:25.44 and Chris Ginder posted a career-best time of 15:54.73 in fourth-place.
Kristen Schild finished fourth in the women's platform diving event with a season-high score of 220.90. She notched a mark of 215.50 in the prelims.
Carman tallied another first-place finish as she raced for a NCAA B qualifying time of 1:59.41 in the women's 200 back.
Men's Swimmer of the Meet, I. Clark won the 200 back with a career-best and NCAA B qualifying time of 1:45.38 while Pontus Renholm finished second, also notching a career-best time of 1:47.80. Colton Ingraham touched the wall in fifth-place with a career-best time of 1:53.01.
Women's Swimmer of the Meet, Klosova set a new meet and pool record when she won the 100 free with a time of 48.97. Leane Darling coasted into second-place with a season-best and NCAA B qualifying time of 49.69. Jennifer Blackman placed third in the finals but swam a career-best time of 49.55 in the prelims and Angela San Juan Cisneros touched the wall in fourth-place with a career-best time of 50.80. Celina Lemmen placed sixth with a time of 51.25 and Michelle Vlasakova finished 10th with a time of 52.15. Tiffany Sammis raced for a time of 54.50 in the prelims.
Thomas Fadnes raced a career-best time of 45.19 to finish second in the men's 100 free while Shane Milu placed fourth with a time of 45.40. Maverick Smalley touched in with a career-best time of 46.11 for fifth-place while Jani Brackett posted a season-best time of 46.69 in ninth-place. Travis Callaghan raced for a time of 47.33 in the prelims.
Jenny Basel won the 200 breast with a meet and pool record time of 2:15.01 and a personal season-best. Tamara Sambrailo notched a season-best time of 2:16.50 in third-place while Devon Callaghan swam a career-best time of 2:18.02 in fourth-place. Jaime Williamson finished fifth, also with a career-best time of 2:20.14.
Mitchell Johnson finished second in the men's 200 breast with a time of 2:02.13. Johnson swam a career-best time of 2:00.61 in the prelims. Grega Plevelj touched in for fourth-place with a career-best time of 2:04.66 and Jerr Merritt followed in fifth with a career-best of 2:04.94. In the prelims, Patrick Raschle swam a career-best time of 2:07.79, Daniel Veale also swam a career-best time of 2:10.21 and Matt Hock posted a season-best time of 2:18.44.
Justine Clark touched the wall in second-place in the women's 200 fly with a NCAA B qualifying time of 2:01.96.
Nate Clark posted a career-best time of 1:47.92, also a NCAA B qualifying time, in the men's 200 fly for second-place. Justin Smith touched in for second-place with a season-best time of 1:48.32. Brett Denham swam in sixth-place in the finals but posted a career-best time of 1:52.55 in the prelims. Josh Cohen swam a season-best time of 1:57.50 in the prelims.
Preston Holcombe posted a career-high score of 290.60 for third-place in the men's platform diving event.
Lemmen, J. Blackman, Vlasakova and Darling ended the night by racing a NCAA B qualifying time of 3:21.34 to win the women's 400 free relay.
The men's 400 free relay of Luka Vrtovec, Shane Milu, Alex Hetland and Thomas Fadnes set a new meet and pool record en route to a first-place finish as they raced a season-best time of 2:56.21.
