The Kenyon College Lords and Ladies domination of the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships continues, as both teams successfully defended their team titles at the event which concluded this evening.

The Lords, who now own 22 NCAC titles, won 12 events to total 1,643 points to best second-place Denison. The Big Red won eight events to enroute to 1,514 points. Wabash placed third for the six time in eight years with 998 points, the second highest total in Little Giant history. Wooster placed fourth with 808 points, followed by Wittenberg (786.5), Allegheny (635), Ohio Wesleyan (381), Hiram (321) and Oberlin (285.5) in positions five through nine, respectively.

The Ladies, who also have 22 crowns, won 12 events to total 1,636.5 points to top second-place Denison. The Big Red women recorded six first-place finishes on the way to 1,555.5 points and their 22nd second-place finish. Wittenberg placed third with 847.5 points; Allegheny compiled 800 points to place fourth, followed by Wooster (739.5), Ohio Wesleyan (518), Oberlin (497) and Hiram (496) in positions five through eight, respectively.

Kenyon freshman Tina Ertel (Halle, Germany/Sportgymnasium Halle) was voted the Female Swimmer of the Year. Individually, she collected wins in the 200 individual medley (2:07.46), the 100 butterfly (56.33) and the 100 freestyle (51.47). Her time in the 100 fly established a new NCAC record, and also qualified her for the upcoming NCAA Diviion III Championships in Houston. Additionally, she qualified for the national meet in the 100 free.

Lords' junior Josh Mitchell (Iron Mountain, MI/Kingsford) was tabbed the Male Swimmer of the Year after posting individual victories in the 50 free (20.79), 100 backstroke (51.40) and the 100 free (45.94).

Wittenberg junior Courtney Roth (Gurnee, IL/Lake Forest) swept both diving events to repeat as the Female Diver of the Year for the second straight year. Denison junior Stephen Julka (Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial) also took both diving events to earn Male Diver of the Year honors for the third consecutive year. He surpassed the NCAA automatic qualifying standard with his 443.90 total on the 3-meter board.

Allegheny's Tom Erdos and Kenyon's Jim Steen were voted Co-Women's Swimming Coaches of the Year by their peers. Erdos earns the honor for the third time, while Steen earns his eighth award. Steen was also voted Men's Swimming Coach of the Year - for the fourth time. Ohio Wesleyan's Brian Book was named Women's Diving Coach of the Year. The award is his first. Denison's Stephen Ritter was named Men's Diving Coach of the Year for the second straight year after his divers placed first and second on the 1-meter board and first and third on the 3-meter board.
