The Stony Brook men’s swimming and diving team beat the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 137-101, at University Pool Saturday afternoon. The Seawolves got off to a hot start, winning the first six events and never looked back, as they improved their record to 5-4 on the year.
Freshman Nathan Fleshman (Monroe, Mich.), junior Rafael Labour, Jr. (New York City, N.Y.) and freshman Lukasz Ochmanski (Lodz, Poland) all captured two first-place finishes for the Seawolves. Fleshman in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:20.26) and 500-yard freestyle (4:58.67), Labour in the 100-yard backstroke (53.06) and 50-yard freestyle (21.76) and Ochmanski in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.79) and 100-yard freestyle (48.18).
Stony Brook was also dominant in the diving events with junior Julian Acevedo (Long Island City, N.Y.) claiming first in both the one-meter (316.58) and three-meter (264.83).
Stony Brook’s other top finishers included: the 200-yard medley relay team (1:37.85) and freshman Chris Olwell (Floral Park, N.Y.) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.83).
The Seawolves won’t be in action again until the new year, when they travel to Easton, Penn. to take on Lafayette and Binghamton on January, 16 at 2 p.m.
