.: Bentley Sweeps UMass-Dartmouth, 150-131

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA , December 8th, 2007

Senior Liza Connolly (Washington, Conn./Shepaug Valley HS) was one of four double-winners, and also participated in a winning relay, as Bentley swam past UMass-Dartmouth, 150-131, in women’s college swimming at UMass-Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.
               

Connolly captured the 50 yard freestyle (25.68 seconds) and the 500 free (5:28.77) before anchoring the Falcons’ winning 200 free relay team, which posted a time of 1:50.25.
               

Bentley’s other double-winners were junior Kristin Chepeleff (Vernon, Conn./Rockville HS) and freshmen Anne Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) and Emily Travers (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS).
               

Chepeleff was victorious in the 200 freestyle (2:06.03) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.98) while Kaduboski finished first in the 50 backstroke (30.73) and the 50 butterfly (28.66). Travers swept the diving with scores of 193.12 on the one-meter and 207.74 on the three-meter.
               

Other Bentley swimmers who registered first-place efforts were junior Kristen Thuerk (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) in the 1000 free (11:35.44), sophomore Carolyn Connolly (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert HS) in the 100 free (57.69) and senior Arden Brust (Newark, N.Y./Newark HS) in the 100 back (1:04.82). Brust and Connolly also helped the Falcons to a win in a relay.
               

Participating on both winning relays for the Falcons was senior Kimiko Tanaka (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow HS).
               

Bentley, 3-2 on the season, will be off for the exam and holiday break until Jan. 6, when it will swim at Plymouth State.
 

Senior Tyler Heishman (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs HS) won two individual events after leading off the winning 200 yard medley relay team, propelling Bentley to a 161-119 win over UMass-Dartmouth in men’s college swimming at UMass-Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.
               

Heishman’s victories came in the 50 backstroke (28.89) and the 100 back (1:01.26).  Those came after he had helped open the meet by teaming with classmates Arthur Engelhard (Apalachin, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) and Ned Krawiecki (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic HS) , along with junior Nick Markert (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton HS) for a time of 1:46.19 in the medley relay.
               

Bentley’s other double-winners were a pair of freshmen, Matt Cesaro (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and Jon Andrews (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS). Cesaro touched first in the 50 free (23.77) and the 200 individual medley (2:13.45) while Andrews swept the diving events. He registered scores of 254.72 in the one-meter competition and 250.50 in the three-meter.
               

Also winning an event for the Falcons were senior Bryan Stinchfield (Darien, Conn./Darien HS) in the 1000 free (10:46.57), freshman Egen Ouellette (West Hartford, Conn./Conard HS) in the 200 free (1:58.34), Markert in the 50 breaststroke (30.20), Krawiecki in the 100 breast (1:03.95) and sophomore Greg McFadden (Wenonah, N.J./Gateway Regional HS) in the 500 free (5:23.88).
               

Bentley, 4-2, won’t return to action until a home meet against St. Michael’s on Jan. 13.
