.: Competition Concludes at Nutmeg Invitational

Men's Recap

The Bulldogs concluded competition at the Nutmeg Invitational Sunday at home. Junior Paolo Benvenuto, sophomore Colin McCarthy, and junior Tyler Scheid all came up with first place finishes in the second and final day of the competition.

Benvenuto came up with a first place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:36.42. Junior Ilya Byzov took second place in this race with a time of 16:42.64. Also in this race, junior Sebastian Cousins grabbed fourth place with a time of 16:58.97.

In the 200-yard backstroke, the Bulldogs took the top six spots of the race. McCarthy led the way with a time of 1:58.68 to finish in first. Senior Billy Rubenstein, freshman Alex Gornitzky, sophomore Craig Steen, junior Kyle McElroy, and senior Jed Lynch came in second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.

In the 100-yard freestyle, senior Gjorgji Gjeorgjievski took second place with a time of 48.07. Freshmen Lugar Choi and Kyle Veatch took the third and fourth spots in the race by finishing the race within a hundredth of a second of each other.

McElroy grabbed second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.13. Steen and junior Matt Sweitzer took third and fourth place, respectively in this race.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Yale took first and second place behind Scheid and senior Reid Madden. Scheid finished in first with a time of 1:57.89 and Madden finished in second with a time of 1:58.54.

 

 

Women's Recap

Yale concluded competition at the Nutmeg Invitational Sunday at home. Junior Blake Walsh took first place in the 200-yard butterfly.

In the 1650-yard freestyle, freshman Annie Killian took fourth place with a time of 18:05.69. Sophomore Laura Grigereit finished in 5th place with a time of 18:32.40.

Senior Laura Aronsson finished in second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.70. Walsh and freshman Leslie Roberson grabbed sixth and seventh place in this race.

In the 100-yard freestyle, junior Alexis Mann finished in third place with a time of 53.79. Walsh came up with a third place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:30.15.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Walsh edged the competition to finish in first place with a time of 2:10.81. Junior Sara Fracapane and junior Laura Strittmatter took third and fourth place with times of 2:15.11 and 2:15.57, respectively.
