Lafayette swimming and diving head coach Jim Dailey announced Mark Yankovich as the program's new assistant swimming coach.

"I'm excited to have Mark accept the position," Dailey said. "His experience as a swimmer and coach will play a big role in our success this coming season. Mark is very upbeat and excited about learning, teaching and living swimming. His high energy and enthusiasm will be easy to build on for our swimmers and divers. It will be easy for the team to get along and trust him."

A native of Richboro, Pa., Yankovich has been the Northampton swim coach for the last two years, where he was responsible for over 100 swimmers, ranging from ages 4-18. His duties included practice schedules, coordinating team practices, stroke mechanic improvements and creating meet lineups.

Prior to taking the reins at Northampton, he also spent time as an assistant coach for the Richboro swim team, controlling the practice schedule and workouts for the Richboro senior level swimmers.

Yankovich was a four-year member of the McDaniel College swim team, including being named captain during his junior and senior seasons. He swam mainly the breast stroke and individual medley events. Mark was a Centennial Conference scorer in those events. He was named Rookie of the Year in 2004 and Most Valuable Player in 2007.

He graduated from McDaniel in May 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education.

He currently holds a personal trainer certification (WITS) and certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR/PR/AED.
