Olympic swimmer and medalist, Rachel Komisarz, has joined the University of Louisville's swimming and diving coaching staff as a volunteer.
"This is a very special opportunity for our athletes to benefit from her experience and to watch her incredible dedication to training at a championship level, said U of L coach Arthur Albiero.
The Warren, Michigan native won both a gold and silver medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens. She was the 2004 Olympic gold medalist in the 800-meter relay freestyle relay and silver medalist in the 400-meter medley.
Komisarz, a 1999 graduate from the University of Kentucky, was a three-time SEC Champion and seven-time All-American from 1996-99 under Coach Gary Conelly.
The 1995 graduate of Warren-Mott High School, finished first at the 1994 Class A state high school meet in both the 100 and 200 freestyle. She is the only girl from Macomb County to ever win a state swim title.
