.: Gillett Assumes Golden West JC Helm

After taking over as the Head Swimming Coach of Golden West Swim Club last September, Bob Gillett has now joined the Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coaching Staff at Golden West College. Golden West College has been one of the premier junior college programs in southern California for decades. Bob Gillett is considered to be one of the most successful swimming coaches in the country. He has been an excellent developmental coach and innovator in the coaching profession.

Gillett said, “I am very excited about the future at Golden West College . I love living in the Huntington Beach area and the people in the athletic department at GWC are sensational. I think this situation has such great potential. This is the place to explore some new cutting edge ideas for our sport as we move into new and exciting directions in swimming in the United States ; especially in the area of post-graduate swimmers.”
<p> Coach Bob Gillett was the founding President of the National Club Swimming Association (NCSA), who recently hosted their 9th NCSA Jr. National Swimming Championships in Orlando , FL ; a meet that drew over 1300, top eighteen and under swimmers from across the USA . He was the developer and implementer of computer assisted race evaluation in 1978 and has recently released a new version of the software for the Pocket PC market. Bob has been a major part of the development of many great swimmers at all levels. Most notable is Misty Hyman, who won 12 National Championships in the 100 and 200 Butterfly and was the 2000 Olympic Champion in the 200 Butterfly.
