Senior Lindsay Caldwell of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming team has been named the Horizon League Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

The award is the first of the season for Caldwell and sixth of her career. She was selected for the award twice as a junior last year.

She started the season with a solid overall performance against Iowa and Wisconsin. She defeated Iowa in the 50 freestyle and tied the Hawkeyes in the 100 free. Her time of 24.47 in the 50 placed third overall, while her time of 53.06 in the 100 tied for second. In the 200 freestyle, she placed sixth overall, narrowly missing (.12 seconds) another win over Iowa. She also finished seventh in the 200 IM and helped the 400 medley relay team to a third place finish and the 200 medley relay sixth.

This is the first award for the Panther women this year after winning league swimmer or diver accolades 15 times last season.
