Atlanta, GA , March 24th, 2006

Meet Results

Not so fast Auburn! Forty-two points might not be enough to put away Arizona or Stanford at Day Two of the Men's NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships. Full story to follow, but the quick results from this morning are this: Auburn four up, four down, Stanford six up, five down, and Arizona went eight and one. By event -

200 Medley Relay - Northwestern goes in again as the top dog of the medley relay - can they pull it off tonight? We'll see, Arizona's looking tough.

400 IM - Mellouli gets the top morning swim with a 3:44.76, but who are you putting your money on? Lochte was 3:46.13.

100 Fly - Subirats had the fastest relay split last night and he's got the top time this morning. He doesn't get the benefit of a relay start against Tarwater though. And give it up for the mid-majors - Oakland's Chris Sullivan drops a second and a half from his seed to make the big eight. The Grizzlies join George Mason, Air Force, and UNC-Wilmington as underdogs on the scoreboard.

200 Free - McGinnis and Burnett take the top two spots. Could be Burnett - could be wide open with Meichtry and old man Vanderkaay hovering close by.

100 Breast - Regular message board contributer Dave Rollins makes his mark with a 52.68 - just 0.04 off Swander's best time of the season. Texas gets a pair in with O'Halloran dropping a second+ to go. Barbosa, Cass, Vlad, and Swander make this a race to watch.

100 Back - The way Lochte's swimming its his to lo....oh wait, he's not in, giving Grevers a shot to repeat. Don't count out Van Wie or even Subirats considering the way Arizona's going. Speaking of message board contributors - Berkoff's school record is gone with Cromwell going 46.76. Of course, back then turns were . . .
