.: Boston College Gets Full Time Assistant, Names Amherst Grad to Post

Pohorylo has helped lead the BC men’s and women’s swim programs to a combined 39-11 dual meet record in his two seasons at Chestnut Hill, while aiding in the transition from the Big East Conference to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Boston College swimmers have also been successful out of the water during this time as well. The G.P.A of both teams were tops among ACC schools and within the top 15 in the nation according to the CSCAA. In the off season, Pohorylo has served as the Head Coach of the Eaglets Swim Club, an age group team based out of Boston College, and as Interim Head Coach of the Boston College Masters Swim Club.
Pohorylo joined the Eagles after graduating from Amherst College in 2004. During his four years at Amherst, Pohorylo was able to earn Division III First Team All-America honors in 11 events, All-Conference honors in 15 events, and 10 NESCAC Conference titles. He capped of his senior year as the NCAA Champion in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, setting new NESCAC Conference records in both, and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team. Michael was also elected captain for his senior year and helped to guide his team to an undefeated dual meet season.
While working as a part-time assistant, Michael has been pursuing a masters degree in Higher Education Administration at Boston College. Mike will continue that pursuit as he joins the staff full time.
