Freshman Scott Spansail led the way for the Huskies, compiling two first-place finishes on the evening. Spansail, a San Clemente, Calif. native, finished first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:24.70 and first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:34.23.
Husky sophomore Taylor Brugh also had a strong outing on the evening, finishing first in the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 1:50.74. Brugh also led off for the 400 medley relay team that took first-place with a season-best time of 3:23.04 in the first event of the competition.
Sophomore Bret Lundgaard swam strong in the 200 individual medley for Washington, taking first with a time of 1:54.54. Freshman Jonathan Banker finished third in the event with a time of 1:57.75.
Also finishing first for the Huskies was Pat Penoyer in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.91.
The men return to the pool for competition on Friday, January 6th when they face Arizona, NAU and OSU.
