.: Bentley Wins Tri-Meet At Western New England

WALTHAM, Mass. , January 12th, 2006

Freshman Kristin Thuerk was a triple-winner, and her teammates combined to win 13 of 14 events, as Bentley improved to 6-1 by sweeping Regis College and Western New England in a women’s swimming triangular Wednesday night at WNEC.

The score against Western New England was 105-18, and the count against Regis was 95-28.

Thuerk helped open the meet on a successful note, swimming a leg on the Falcons’ 200 medley relay team (2:00.87). Later, she touched first in both the 200 yard freestyle (2:06.46) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.37).

Bentley had six double-winners in the meet, including two who were on the winning 200 medley relay quartet, junior Amanda Albertian and senior Brianne Tulley. Albertian’s victory came in the 100 individual medley (1:08.61) and Tulley touched first in the 100 free (57.40).

Sophomores Liza Connolly, Arden Brust and Kimiko Tanaka were also double-winners, as was junior Kaitlin Anelauskas. Connolly was first in the 50 free (26.57) and 50 butterfly (28.87), Tanaka went the distance fastest in the 1000 free (11:59.81), Brust captured the 50 backstroke (30.12) and Anelauskas touched first in the 500 free (5:47.31). Anelauskas, Brust and Tanaka were also part of Bentley’s winning 200 free relay team.
