.: Rider Men, Marist Women Lead Day 1 at MAAC Championships

EDISON, NJ , February 16th, 2006

The Rider University men's and the Marist College women's swimming and diving teams lead all schools after the first day of competition in the 2006 MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held at the Fitness and Aquatic Center at Loyola College.

The Rider men lead after scoring 230 points earlier today, while second-place Marist registered 199 points. Loyola College is in third with 130 points, followed by Niagara University (100), Iona College (97), Saint Peter's College (69), Canisius College (62) and Fairfield University (50).

On the women's side, Marist has tallied 253 points, 12 points ahead of second-place Rider (241). Loyola is in third with 163 points, followed by Fairfield (134), Iona (94), Niagara (87), Manhattan College (53), Siena College (51), Canisius (50) and Saint Peter's (30).

Four MAAC records were reset during this evening's session. Rider's Priscilla Modrov won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:05.92, while Fairfield's Jennifer Masi touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.24. Marist's Meghan Duffy posted the highest score at a MAAC Championship in the one-meter diving event (254.15), and the Red Foxes' 400-yard medley relay team of Jamie Falco, Lauren Malski, Sandra Bujalski and Jackie Fountaine completed the event in a time of 3:53.01.
