IUPUI's Brian Wheeler and Western Illinois' Amber Piercy were selected as the Mid-Con Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week after turning in solid performances last week.

Wheeler is the Men’s Athlete of the Week after a strong performance in IUPUI’s dual meet win over Eastern Illinois. The junior won the 1,000 freestyle (10:04.88) by 7.11 seconds, the 500 freestyle (4:52.62) by 5.21 seconds and the 200 butterfly (1:57.28) by 6.02 seconds. His marks in the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle were season-best times.

Piercy is the Women’s Athlete of the Week after a solid performance in dual meets against UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee. The freshman won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:44.01 and the 500 freestyle in 5:19.02. She won the 1,000 freestyle by 16.8 seconds and touched the wall in the 500 freestyle 5.62 seconds ahead of the competition.
