.: Dartmouth's Brislin Moves into Athletic Administration

HANOVER, NH , April 20th, 2006

Joann Brislin, head coach of Dartmouth women's swimming since 1996, will move into athletic administration, according to an announcement by Athletic Director Josie Harper.

As of July 1, 2006, Brislin will relinquish her coaching duties in order to take on the job of assistant director for physical education and recreation, a position that focuses on the recreation, intramural and club sport programs. These programs involve more than 5,500 undergraduate and graduate students and date back to 1927. Brislin joins the athletics administration team led by Roger Demment, associate director for physical education/recreation.

"Joann is a passionate advocate for her student-athletes and I am confident she will transfer that skill to the students she will work with and represent in her new job," said Harper. "I expect recreation, intramural and club sports will continue to flourish under Joann's enthusiastic leadership."

Brislin was appointed to the athletic department in July 1996, after 16 years as the assistant swim coach at the University of Washington. During Brislin's tenure at Dartmouth, women swimmers broke 10 of 14 school records.
