Senior and U-M tri-captain Vanderkaay led the Wolverines to their second victory of the season, winning three individual events and contributing to a winning relay against No. 11 Georgia 179-121. In his first 1650 free of the year, Vanderkaay posted an NCAA 'A' qualifying time (15:05.17). Vanderkaay then went on to post NCAA ‘B’ qualifying time in the 500 Free (4:23.91) and finished with back-to-back events in the 400 IM (3:56.62) and as the last leg in the 200 Free Relay (1:22.20, split 19.97). Vanderkaay 400 IM time of was more than 2.5 seconds faster than the next closest competitor his 50 Free split was the fastest amongst all competitors. Vanderkaay was also named National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week last season
Mary DeScenza, University of Georgia
Naperville, Illinois
In a 170-122 win at Michigan, DeScenza swam the 200 Fly (1:57.90) for the first time this year and won with an NCAA ‘A’ qualifying time. DeScenza also won the 200 Back (1:59.00) and was on the winning 200 Medley Relay (1:42.47). DeScenza exhibitioned in the 400 IM (4:19.52) and had the top time in the race.
Valery Ladrat, Ouachita Baptist University

In a dual meet with Division I opponent Centenary, Ladrat swam the Breast leg on the winning 400 Medley Relay (56.50). He then won the 100 Breast (57.50) with an NCAA ‘B’ qualifying time. He also won the 200 Breast (2:07.82) also with an NCAA ‘B’ qualifying time. OBU won the meet 179-76
Sarah Watson, Ouachita Baptist University
Ft. Worth, Texas
In a double dual meet against Division I opponents Centenary and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Watson led off the winning 400 Medley Relay (58.97). Watson then won the 50 Free (24.99 and 200 Back (2:05.87) with an NCAA ‘A’ qualifying time. OBU topped Centenary 165-92 and Little Rock 194-55.
Evan Powell, Carnegie Mellon University
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Powell had an outstanding week capped by his swims at the CMU Invitational. Powell won the 100 Free (46.90) and second in the 50 Free (21.73). Powell anchored the 200 Free Relay (split 20.93) came from behind to nip Emory for the victory. Powell ended the meet anchoring the winning 400 Free Relay (3:09.70, split 46.55).
Annamarie Novinger, Denison University
Longmont, Colorado
Novinger swam key lead off on victorious 200 Free Relay (1:39.43, 25.08) to help the Big Red break the tie and win a thrilling 123-118 victory over the Kenyon Ladies. Novinger started the meet with second place finish by thirteen hundredths in the 200 Free (1:55.90). Novinger answered back by winning the 100 Free (54:00) by over seven tenths of a second.
