The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team won the Allegheny Distance Invitational Saturday at the Wise Center, accumulating 726 team points. Grove City doubled up both runner-up Gannon (315) and Allegheny (310).

Grove City won six of a possible seven swimming events Saturday. Sophomore NCAA All-American Caleb Courage (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) captured three of five individual victories. Courage won the 500 freestyle in 5 minutes, 2.45 seconds, then won the 200 backstroke in 2:04.96. He then won the 400 individual medley in a time of 4:23.83. Junior Andrew Gilbert (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.03 while freshman Mark Barron (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) won the 1650 in 17:39.05. Barron, Courage, sophomore Jeremy Harbaugh (South Park, Pa./South Park) and freshman Drew Snyder (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) closed the meet by winning the 800 free relay in 7:26.67. Barron also earned runner-up in the 500 (5:04.31) while Harbaugh grabbed second in both the 400 IM (4:41.15) and the 1650 (18:03.46). Freshman Peter Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) placed third in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.85) while senior Joel Boerckel (East Moline, Ill./United Township) finished third in the 200 backstroke with a mark of 2:08.49.

Sophomore Nick Barker (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) finished third in the 200 butterfly (2:08.87) while freshman Chad Toth (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Christian) earned third in the 400 IM (4:41.54).

Larsen, Toth, sophomore Emmanuel Butmankiewicz (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Westminster Christian) and sophomore Albert Cheung (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) combined for a third-place finish in the 800 free relay (7:45.85) as the Wolverines' "B" team.

Grove City will host Carnegie Mellon in a dual meet Saturday, November 12 at 1 p.m.
