.: D-2&3 - Westminster, Ashland Split

The Westminster College men's and women's swimming teams each opened their 2005-06 dual meet schedules today at NCAA Division II Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. The Titans men (0-0-1) posted a 102-102 tie with Ashland, while the Lady Titans (0-1) suffered a 117-88 setback to the Eagles.

Junior Ryan Trunk (Brookline, MA/Cheshire Academy H.S.) (photo attached) paced the Titan men, capturing both the 100 (48.18) and 200 freestyle (1:49.28) while also leading off the team's winning 400 medley relay team (3:21.00). The Lady Titans had three individuals post wins: sophomores Becky Giles (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop H.S.) in the 200 IM (2:17.75) and Steph Peters (Finleyville/Peters Township H.S.) in the 100 freestyle (56.29), and freshman Megan Mier (Akron, OH/Revere H.S.) in the 200 backstroke (2:18.36).
