The Ohio State women's swimming and diving team defeated Bowling Green Thursday 171-124. The team won 15 of 16 events contested in Bowling Green's home pool, Cooper Pool. Nicole Maglich and Gulsah Gunenc each won three individual races throughout the meet.

Maglich, a senior from Sarasota, Fla. (Sarasota), won the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle events, along with the 100-yard backstroke. Her time of 10:06.27 in the 1,000-yard freestyle was 28 seconds faster than any other competitor. Gunenc, a junior from Edirne, Turkey (Edirne Anatolian), claimed her wins in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley.

Griet Buelens (So., Kapelle, Belgium/Ursulinen Mechelen) and Rebekah Rychvalsky (Jr., Sydney, Austrailia/Castle Hill) also were multiple event winners. Buelens claimed the 100- and 200-yard freestyile while Rychvalksy won both breaststroke events. In the diving well, Anesa Beard (Jr., Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) claimed each of the springboard events.

Sophomore Linda Lund (Roennede, Denmark/Haslev) completed the 15 wins for the Buckeyes, recording a time of 24.78 in the 50-yard freestyle.

"I am very excited with our swims," Jeanne Fleck, women's swimming and diving head coach, said. "Nicole, Griet and Gulsah swam very well. Gulsah swam as fast as she did at Big Tens last year. It was a great way to start the year."

The Buckeyes return to Columbus for their first dual meet in the new Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Friday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. The meet will be a double-dual meet against Michigan and Purdue
