Junior Dan Simonsen and junior Ashley DePaul were named the male and female Big West Athlete of the Week following their performances at the UCI Speedo Cup in Long Beach.

Simonsen was one of only two swimmers (male or female) from a school other than Stanford to win an individual event at the Speedo Cup. Simonsen won the 100 breast with a time of 55.20. He also finished fourth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:01.33.

DePaul finished in the top four in all three of her events at the Speedo Cup. She finished second in the 100 fly (55.24), third in the 200 fly (2:01.49) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:06.01).

This is the second Big West Athlete of the Week honor for both Simonsen and DePaul.
