.: Drury, UC San Diego Are 1-2 in First Division II Poll

November 17th, 2005

The defending men’s NCAA Division II champions and women’s runners-up are both at the head of the class of the first Division II Power Rankings for the 2005-06 season. The Panther women are 1-2 on the season with both losses coming at the hands of Division I teams. The men, meanwhile are 2-0 on the season with wins over Delta State and Southern Illinois. The lead isn’t a comfortable one, however with UC San Diego just a point back. Ouachita Baptist, Indianapolis and Grand Valley State round out the women’s top five while Cal-State Bakersfield, Ouachita and Indianapolis occupy the top spots for the men.

The Power Rankings are a relative indication of a team's strength in dual meets and not necessarily an indication of a team’s performance at the NCAA Championsihps in March. Scores are based upon entries submitted by each team’s respective coaching staff.

Bakersfield, Wingate, Wayne State, South Dakota and Henderson State round out the top ten Division II women’s teams while Missouri-Rolla, Henderson State, Grand Valley, Wayne State and South Dakota complete the men’s top ten. Future polling dates are December 20th (post-invite), February 6th (pre-conference) and March 6 (post-conference). New teams may submit entries between deadline dates.
