.: Missouri State Men, Denver Women Top First Mid-Major Poll

Though over 2,000 miles separate them in geography, just over a 1/10 of a point separate the top two men's Mid-Major programs in the first Mid-Major Division I Power Ranking of the season. Missouri State and the Naval academy both put up over 230 points with the Bears coming out on top in the men's ranking. Denver University leads the way for the women, racking up 232 points to Toledo's 228. Four more women's teams are within three points of Toledo.

The Power Rankings are a relative indication of a team's strength in dual meets. Rankings for Division II and III will be released November 17th. The mid-major support institutions that do not benefit from large football and basketball television agreements and are based on each team's best dual meet lineup as judged and submitted by participating teams.

Top Ten
Following Missouri State and Navy, the men's top ten is rounded out by Denver, Western Kentucky, UNC-Wilmington, Oakland, UMBC, UW-Milwaukee, and UC-Irvine. Massachusetts edged out Bucknell and St. Bonaventure for the last spot in the top ten.

For the women, UMBC, UC-Irvine, UNC-Wilmington round out the top five while Western Kentucky, Missouri State, New Hampshire, St. Louis, William and Mary and Navy are all separated by just one point.

Top Twenty-Five
Colgate, Bowling Green, St. Bonaventure, UW-Milwaukee, Bucknell, Illinois State, Richmond, massachusetts, Davidson, North Texas, George Washington, Gardner-Webb, Duquesne, and Rider round out the top twenty five. On the men's side, St. Louis, Rider, LaSalle, Colgate, Davidson, George Washington, Duquesne, Southern Illinois, William & Mary, Xavier, Evansville, and Valparaiso all earned spots in the top twenty-five.

Top Twenty-Five
Seven other women's teams and one additional men's team also earned consideration for their scores. They included LaSalle, Central Connecticut, Xavier, Evansville, Southern Illinois, Binghampton, Valparaiso and on the men's side, New Hampshire.

Future polling dates are December 20th (post-invite), February 6th (pre-conference) and March 6 (post-conference). New teams may submit entries between deadline dates. Eligible institutions come from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic 10, Big West, Colonial Athletic Association, EISL, Horizon League, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-America, Mid-Continent, Missouri Valley, North Eastern, Patriot, and Sun Belt. Additional schools participate following certification that their school awards fewer than half of the allowable scholarships permitted by the NCAA.
