Washington & Jefferson Sweeps Elizabethtown, Lycoming

The Washington & Jefferson College men's and women's swimming and diving teams ran their records to 4-0 overall after sweeping a double-dual meet from Lycoming and Elizabethtown on Saturday afternoon.

The W&J women defeated Lycoming by a 55-38 margin and also notched a 63-30 win over E'town. The men's squad posted a 55-38 win against Lycoming and a 62-31 triumph over Elizabethtown.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Orstein (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) won three races for the women as she notched victories in the 50 freestyle (24.41), 100 backstroke (1:00.06) and 100 breastroke (1:05.34).

Her time in the 100 breastroke qualified her for the NCAA "A" Cut, while she also swam a NCAA "B" Cut time in the 50 freesyle. In the 100 backstroke, Orstein shattered her own school record.

Senior Katie Groznik (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) touched first in two events as she won the 500 (5:39.26) and 1000 (11:35.76) freestyles.

Freshmen Daniel Mancuso (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) and Eddie Werner (Severna Park, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) led the men's team with a pair of triumphs.

Mancuso claimed first place in the 200 IM (2:04.53) and 500 freestyle (5:02.82), while Werner earned victories in the 100 backstroke (56/37) and 200 freestyle (1:49.79).
