COLUMBUS, Ohio , November 12th, 2005

Senior David Gustavsson (Aby, Sweden/Ebersteinska) won three individual crowns, but the University of Cincinnati men's swimming and diving team fell to Ohio State, 155-124, tonight (Nov. 11) at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

The Bearcats, now 2-3 in dual meets this season, earned seven event titles, with Gustavsson leading the way. The 2004 Academic All-American won the 100 breaststroke (57.49), the 100 freestyle (45.79), and the 100 butterfly (52.34). He also swam a leg on the 200 freestyle relay team, which won in 1:23.75.

Other Bearcat winners included senior Steve Marshall (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.82), sophomore Steve Wood (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) in the 500 freestyle (5:06.68) and freshman Bjorn Mates (Eislingen, Germany/Wirtemberg Gymnasium) in the 200 backstroke (1:48.15). It was the fourth individual title of the season for the freshman from Germany.
