Susquehanna University Splits With McDaniel College

SELINSGROVE, PA , November 10th, 2005           
Molly Bolek (Wyomissing, PA / Hempfield) continues to dominate in the distance freestyle events. The McDaniel junior led her Green Terror to a 116-86 win at Susquehanna on Wednesday. The McDaniel men’s team fell by a score of 101.5-51.5.

Bolek turned in three wins at Susquehanna. She won the 1000-yard freestyle by 32 seconds with a time of 11:23.10, and followed that with a 16 second win in the 500-yard free. She clocked a 5:33.9 in that race. She also won the 200-yard free by little more than a second.

Senior Cassie Allen (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Twp.) turned in a pair of wins taking the 200-yard individual medley in 2:17.63, and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.03. Cali Celinski (Yardley, PA / Mercer Christian) and Brooke Bennett (Sykesville, MD / S. Carroll) each contributed a nine-point win to the McDaniel effort.

On the men’s side, Chris Reed (Bowie, MD / Bowie) won the 200 individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly, but his efforts were not enough to overcome the Crusaders. Susquehanna swept the first four races of the night. Mark Yankovich (Richboro, PA / Council Rock) also recorded a win taking the 500-yard freestyle.

With the win, the women’s team imporves to 2-1 on the year. The men fall to 0-3 on the year. McDaniel returns to Centennial action on Saturday when the Terror hosts Ursinus.
