Goggles - $9.95
TYR Aquashift - $108.00 NCAA Title - Price...um, how about $30,301

So says a recent article in the Athens Banner-Herald. According to the Herald, Georgia's three national championship coaches will cash in with nearly $85,000 combined in bonuses for their teams' postseason success this year.

Women's swimming coach Jack Bauerle is rewarded with $30,301 in bonuses - $15,301 for winning a national title, $5,000 for a top-five national finish and an additional $10,000 for the national championship from Nike.

In addition, Bauerle can make additional compensation of $65,000 on top of that when a longevity clause kicks in that rewards him handsomely for his four NCAA championships.

"It's manna from heaven in a way," Bauerle said. "That's how I view it. It's a little bit extra for college for my two boys, but it has nothing to do with the motivation at all to win.

"Speaking for myself and most coaches, the pressure we put on ourselves is mostly self-imposed anyhow," he continued. "Bonuses are aptly named. It's a bonus on something that you generally do. Might it make life easier? Yeah. As soon as it comes in, my wife, Frances Ruth, and I put it away. But it might help for one surfing trip to Costa Rica, and for that I'm very thankful."
