.: Bassi, Haviland, Suits, Vitali, Joyce, Orstein, Brinkman Receive ECAC Weekly Praise

In division I, Bassie won three events in a variety of strokes, all in NCAA provisional qualifying time, to lead Harvard to convincing wins over 24th-ranked Kansas and Northeastern in a weekend double-dual meet. She won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:59.01, a time that trails only five others on the national top times list. She also claimed the 400 individual medley in 4:23.24 and the 500 freestyle in 4:53.14. The junior led the Crimson to its 15th and 16th consecutive dual-meet wins, 198-121 over the No. 24 Jayhawks and 244-74 over the Huskies. In addition, she broke her own school record in the 200 butterfly with a tiem of 1:59.01.
Taking home the division I diving award, Haviland was named female diver of the week for her performance against rival Navy. She swept the diving events winning the one-meter (287.48), and three-meter event (319.20).
In division II action, Suits won two events and teamed for a relay win as Le Moyne swam past Saint Rose 169-114. She won the 100 Back in 1:04.23 and the 100 Free in 56.78 and teamed for a 200 Medley Relay win in 1:54.26. The sophomore is also this week’s Northeast-10 Swimmer of the Week.
In division II diving, Vitali won both diving events in the dual meet win over Saint Rose. She scored a 157.6 in the first 1M Diving and 193.00 in the second. The Johnson City, NY native is also this week’s Northeast-10 Diver of the Week.
For division III, Joyce won three events and set two Liberty League records to earn Swimmer of the Meet honors at the Liberty League championships. She won the 500 free (5:14.31) and the 200 free (1:56.95) in record time and also finished first in the 100 free (0:54.16). The junior finished second in the 50 free and swam on the 400 medley and 400 free relays. Rochester finished second overall.
Also for division III swimming, Orstein posted three individual wins at the Grove City Longnecker Invitational, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in all three events. She also led four W&J relay squads to first place finishes this weekend. The sophomore posted “A” cut times in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.88) and 200 IM (2:05.91) and a “B” cut in the 400 IM (4:34.16).
Finally for division III diving, Brinkman was named Diver of the Meet at the ECAC Championships at Nottingham High School. She won the one-meter board with a score of 339.35, outdistancing her nearest competitor by 22 points. The Ottawa, OH native place second in the three-meter event with a score of 366.60. The Hawks finished fourth in the 11-team meet.
