Meet Results

The Boston University swimming and diving teams split a dual meet with Stony Brook Saturday afternoon, with the women defeating the Sea Wolves 126-115, while the men fell 134-109 at the BU Fitness and Recreation Aquatic Center. The Terrier women improved to 2-3 on the season and earned their first win since the season-opener against Binghamton. The BU men dropped to 1-3 on the year.

The BU women were led by the continued stellar performance of Lidija Breznikar, who won the 200 IM (2:10.03) by over seven seconds and the 200-yard breastroke (2:22.70) by over six seconds. Even more impressive, Breznikar had to start her races in the water as she was unable to dive off the blocks due to a hand injury. Laura Hammdorf set a personal best in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:30.41, good for third, while Kara Olderog finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.07) and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.49). Alex Crerar continued to dominate the diving events, winning both the one-meter and the three-meter by over 45 points. Bronwyn Price turned in an excellent showing in the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.83, 5th place), Ryan Kenney set a personal-best in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.74, 5th place) and Kelly Strait had a personal-best 2:36.37 in the same event.

The men were led by Greg Dierksen, who won the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.62) and finished second in the 200-yard IM with a personal best time of 2:01.97. Michael Bear took home medalist honors in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:04.92) and Mike Kelly was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.57. Marino Nakajo finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 1:50.77, while James Lands finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a personal-best time of 2:00.17.

The Terriers return to the pool next Saturday (Dec. 10) for their final meet of the first semester. BU takes on America East rival Maine at 1 p.m. in the Fitness Recreation Aquatic Center. The Terriers host the America East championships at the FitRec on Feb. 16-19.
