Lock Haven, PA , December 11th, 2005

Junior Diane Sujansky (Plum, Pa./Plum) had a record breaking day as she helped lead the No. 17 Lock Haven University Lady Eagles swim team past Juniata College 118-80 this afternoon.

Sujansky won the 50 freestyle (24.53) and 200 breast stroke (2:29.58) breaking Lock Haven team records in both races. Both times also marked Zimmerli Pool records with her 50 marking a NCAA "B" cut.

The Haven took first place in ten of 11 events on the day.

Junior Becca Rhoades (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) contributed to the Lady Eagles win with a big day in the pool taking first in two individual events while competing on the victorious 200 freestyle relay team. Her wins in the 200 freestyle (2:00.57) and 500 (5:27.49) marked career best times and were Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standards.

Also taking first was the 200 medley relay team consisting of Tatiana Patakyova (Poprad-Matejouce, Slovak Republic/Gymnazium Pop. Nabrezie), Kristen Caburis (Howell, N.J./Mercyhurst North East), Kelly Grieneisen (Pittsburgh/Plum), and Sujansky.

Caburis, a junior was also a triple winner. She took first in 200 butterfly with a time of 2:19.75, was a member of the first place 200 medley relay, and swam on the victorious 200 freestyle relay (1:43.86). Teaming up with Caburis and Rhoades on the 200 freestyle relay were Gerda Smirnova (Riga, Latvia/Ilguciema Usk) and Kelly Grieneisen.

Other first place finishers included Katie Grieneisen (Pittsburgh/Plum), in the 100 freestyle (11:23.20), Patakyova in the 200 individual medley, and Smirnova in the 100 freestyle (1:43.86).

"Coming off a great weekend of swimming at the IUP invite, it is very tough to predict how the team will react a week later," said head coach Andy Waeger. "As usual our women stepped up to the plate with some dominating swims. I was incredibly impressed with just how hard each member of the team raced."

The Lady Eagles are back in action when they host California University (Pa.) on Jan. 21, at 2 p.m
