.: Auburn Set to Honor Olympians
Auburn, AL , September 8th, 2004
The Tigers captured a total of six medals at the XXVIII Olympics * two gold, two silver and two bronze. Swimmer Kirsty Coventry brought home the largest collection, winning one of each. Her gold medal swim was in the 200-meter backstroke while she won silver in the 100-meter back and bronze in the 200-meter individual medley. Fellow swimmer Mark Gangloff also won gold as he was a part of the USA's 4x100-meter medley relay. Track sensation Coby Miller won silver as he ran the third leg of the United States' 4x100-meter relay while swimmer George Bovell won bronze in the 200-meter individual medley.
The reception is scheduled to last one hour and will give fans the opportunity to meet and greet the Olympians as well as receive autographs and take photos with them.
The event is free and open to the public.
