Niagara University head swimming and diving coach Peter Thompson announced Wednesday that Lisa Gosiewski has been named assistant swimming and diving coach for the Purple Eagle men’s and women’s teams.

"We are delighted to be adding another coach of Lisa’s caliber working with the team," Thompson said. "Her knowledge of the MAAC, and her direct experience about what it takes to compete at an elite level, will be invaluable to our student-athletes."

A 2002 graduate of the University of Buffalo, Gosiewski swam for Marist College for one season. She placed second in the 200 and 400 individual medley relay, and third in the 200 backstroke at the 1999 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. She also finished in the top 16 in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 back at the ECAC Championships.

Gosiewski was Marist’s team MVP in 1999 and was the former record holder in the 200 IM.

The Rochester native, was a United States Swimming Senior National qualifier in 1997, and a two-time National Intercollegiate Swimming Coaches Association High School All-American.

Gosiewski is pursuing a graduate degree in counselor education at Niagara.
