Meet Results

The Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team continued it strong performance during the second day of action against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Badgers took first in all of the events on Saturday afternoon, finishing with a 243-108 lead.

"We made some adjustments for this afternoon's meet and are very happy with the results," head coach Eric Hansen said. "I thought today was a great way to end the meet."

Senior Carly Piper (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) dominated in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.80), cruising to a win by ten seconds over teammate Emily Carpenter's (Lee's Summit, Mo.) finish of 5:00.93. Teammates Rebecca Johansson Greensboro, N.C.) and Liz Klanderman (Fitchburg, Wis.) finished 3rd and 5th, respectively.

Junior Anna Trinidad (Colorado Springs, Colo.) captured individual titles in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.40) and 400-yard IM (4:21.89), as well as helped the 400-yard medley relay team of Susan Johnson (Toledo, Ohio), Amalia Sarnecki (Ann Arbor, Mich.), and Sarah Hernandez (Chico, Calif.) to a first place victory (3:46.59).

Junior Amalia Sarnecki took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.65), as well as led the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team with teammates Jackie Vavrek (W. Chicago, Ill.), Sarah Hernandez, and Jenny Will (Mequon, Wis.).

Wisconsin also claimed first place finishes from junior Sarah Hernandez in the 100-yard freestyle (51.25) and sophomore Susan Johnson in the 100-yard butterfly(55.82).

The Badgers will next compete on Friday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. in Tucson, Ariz.
