Last Friday Calado led the Hokie men to their first ever win over the North Carolina State. Calado won the 200 butterfly in 1:44.99, posting a time that qualified for the NCAA championships in '04 and broke his own school and pool records. Calado also won the 200 backstroke (1:54.52) and 500 freestyle (4:39.14).The Hokie men now stand at 1-0.
Danielle Townsend, Texas A&M
Bakersfield, California
Danielle led the Aggies to the school's first-ever Big 12 Relays title and a 116-94 decision over perennial top ten Texas. Townsend broke the natatorium record with a 400 free relay lead-off split of 50.31. Townsend was also a member of the 200 medley relay that broke the Kansas natatorium record (23.72 split). The following day, Danielle won both the 50 (23.75) and 100 freestyle (50.60), and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays in a sweep of Kansas and Missouri.
Marek Mapolski, Indiana University (Pa) Tammy Leane, West Chester
Mapolski of Poland swam six events at PSAC Fall Sprint Meet, winning all three individual events and posting impressive relay splits as well. Mapolski won the 100 IM in 53.78, 50 Breaststroke in 26.67 and won the 100 breaststroke with a school record of 58.81. Marek’s breaststroke split of 26.82 and freestyle split of 49.71 helped IUP to wins in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

The Australian transfer led the West Chester Women at the PSAC Fall Sprint Meet. Leane broke the pool, school and PSAC record in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:27.59. That mark qualified her for the NCAA Division II National Championships. She also qualified for Nationals in the 200 free posting a 1:53.66 as West Chester topped IUP, Slippery Rock and Kutztown.
Mike Slavik, Washington University
Naperville, Illinois
Mike led the Bears to a narrow 153-140 victory over St. Louis University. Mike started the meet off the right way by helping the Bears win 200 medley relay that with a time of 1:37.15. Individually, Slavik won the 200 free in 1:45.44 (3 seconds faster than the second-place finisher), 50 freestyle (21.78) and 200 backstroke (1:57.39).
Hillary Lane, Emory University
Deerfield, Illinois
Lane put up some impressive times to help Eagles to a 145.5-97.5 win over Davidson University. Lane was victorious in the 50 and 100 freestyle (25.25 and 54.31 respectively) and split a 53.30 on the Eagles’ winning 400 medley relay.
