Raab automatically qualified for the 2005 NCAA Championships with his sixth-place performance in the 200-meter butterfly at the 2004 FINA World Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., on Monday, October 11. Raab clocked a time of 1:54.95 to better the NCAA short-course (25-meter pool) record of 1:54.97 set by Kendrick Rainer of Texas at the 2004 NCAA Championships. Raab was second after the preliminaries with a time of 1:55.05. He was the only collegiate swimmer to qualify for the finals in the 200 fly.
Raab is a three-time ACC champion in the 200 butterfly as well as a two-time first-team All-American in the event.
