The Washington State University women's swim team defeated the University of Arkansas 119-86 Saturday at Gibb Pool.

Erin McCleave led the Cougar swimmers with victories in the 200 freestyle (1:53.46) and the 100 backstroke. Her time of 58.08 in the 100 backstroke placed her eighth on the Cougar all-time top ten list.

Kayli Changstrom set a Gibb Pool record on her way to victory in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:29.77. In the event the Cougars finished one-two-three with McKenzie Reiter (4:33.50) and Maegan Wood (4:34.83) finishing second and third, respectively.

The Cougars began the home meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay. The team of McCleave, Monika Povilonyte, Bryn Mooney and Katie Van Horne put the Cougars in a lead they never relinquished.

"We wanted to take it one event at a time," said WSU Head Coach Erica Quam. "We wanted to have the best people in the best spots."

Arkansas swimmer Whitney Lynn broke the Gibb Pool record by swimming a 10:14.82 in the 1000 freestyle to eclipse previous mark of 10:16.56.

The victory boosted the Cougars' record to 2-0 on the year after an earlier defeat of San Jose State. WSU will open the Pacific-10 Conference Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. against the University of Washington at Gibb Pool.
