Miami men's swimming and diving head Coach Pete Lindsay remarked before the season began that the RedHawks' wins this year would be team efforts, and Saturday's 147-82 win showed just why Lindsay made that prediction. Between relays and individual events, 15 different RedHawks were winners as Miami recorded the top times or points in 11 of the 13 events contested at the Nixon Aquatic Center.

Miami improves to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in the MAC with the win. The only Miamian to win two individual events was junior Brian O'Rourke (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves), while sophomore Justin Marcy (Daytona Beach, Florida/Fairfield-Ohio) won an individual event and was on a winning relay team, and senior Jason Krasula (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) was part of both winning foursomes.

Krasula, sophomore Griffin Marshall (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep), sophomore Michael Donohoe (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and rookie Ryan McHugh (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) teamed to open the afternoon with a 400 medley relay win in 3:29.74, while junior Scott Robson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) followed with a 1000 free win in 9:50.50.

O'Rourke won the 200 free race in 1:44.99, while Marcy took the 50 free in 21.53 and freshman Blake Norman (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) won the 200 IM in 1:58.92.

Miami swept both diving events, with junior Zach Niehaus (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) winning the three-meter with 289.58 points and senior Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) winning the one-meter with 294.38 points.

It wasn't until the seventh event that Buffalo broke through with an individual gold when Mark Sy won the 200 fly, but Miami still kept the wins coming. Kestutis Aukstuolis (Hudson, Ohio/Sycamore), a senior academically but in his first year on the team, won the 100 free in 48.40, before Luke Adams of Buffalo claimed the Bulls' other events win in the 200 back. Miami's last event win that added to its total score was O'Rourke's victory in the 500 free in 4:51.65.

Though the RedHawks swam the last two events as exhibitions, Andrew O'Neill (Rockaway, N.J./Oratory Prep) had the fastest time, 2:11.05, in the 200 breast, and the foursome of Marcy, Krasula, sophomore Jamie Morris (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual) and junior Pat Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) had the fastest time in the 400 free relay.
