PHILADELPHIA, PA , November 15th, 2004

Both St. Bonaventure swimming and diving teams defeated LaSalle in dual meet action on Saturday at Villanova University's Kirk Pool. The men came from behind to edge the Explorers 123-120, while the Bona women had a much easier day with a 155-88 victory.

St. Bonaventure's men trailed the Explorers by four points going into the meet's final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Bonnies' team of sophomore Ceyhan Guler, senior Seth Johnson and juniors Ryan Moore and Michal Bogacki, pulled out the win, downing the LaSalle relay by a mere .17 of a second in 3:11.22. St. Bonaventure got 11 points for the first place finish.

In other action, the Bonnies' team of freshman Roman Margulis, senior Matt Cormier, Guler and Moore captured the 400 medley relay in 3:33.47.

Individually for the men, Johnson won the 50 free in 21.84, Margulis took the 200 individual medley in 1:56.05, and junior Adrian Blaszczak won the 200 breaststroke in 2:07.71.

The Bonnies women claimed the 400 medley relay, with sophomore Laura Bull, freshman Anneli Johnson, junior Danielle Grobmyer and senior Cindy deVries touching first in 4:00.67. The team of deVries, Bull and juniors Stephanie Belke and Stephanie Karl won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:38.28.

The Bonnies women took first place in 10 individual events. Freshman Taryn Ahern placed first in three events. She won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:33.10, the 200 IM in 2:11.11 and the 500 free in 5:10.48. DeVries had a pair of wins, taking the 50 free in 24:70 and the 200 free in 1:56.74. Grobmyer won the 200 butterfly in 2:10.65, Belke won the 100 free in 53.32, Bull captured first in the 200 backstroke in 2:07.19 and Johnson won the 200 breast in 2:22.56. On the diving board, sophomore Jacqueline Babich won the one-meter competition with a score of 223.88 points.

St. Bonaventure improved its dual meet records to 3-1 on the men's side and 3-2 for the women.

Both Bona teams will host Penn State on Friday, Nov. 19, at 4:00.
