Meet Results

Navy posted victories in 10 of the 13 events on its way to a 155-82 win over George Washington, Wednesday evening in a men's swimming and diving dual meet in Lejeune Hall.

"It was a solid team effort today," said Navy head swimming coach Bill Roberts. "For a meet in the middle of the week and during a tough training period, I was happy with the times."

Navy came out of the blocks strong, winning the 400-meter medley relay by nearly four seconds. The Navy foursome of Kevin Mukri (So., Silver Spring, Md.), Brian DeMell (Sr., Mentor, Ohio), Chris Speicher (Sr., Cape May, N.J.) and Mike Linn (Jr., Newhall, Calif.) posted a 3:57.78 to win the event. Andrew Thorn (Fr., Elizabethtown, Pa.) followed by winning the 800-meter freestyle by 11 seconds in a time of 8:30.38, then Danny Flemming (So., Loganville, Ga.) made it three-straight Navy wins to open the meet with a 1:56.63 clocking to win the 200-meter freestyle, narrowly edging teammate Jake Keefe (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) by one-quarter of a second.

Jeffrey Glazer and Jonathan Sabin placed 1-2 for George Washington in the 50-meter freestyle to give the Colonials their first victory of the meet.

Speicher soon followed by winning the 200-meter individual medley in a season-best time of 2:10.67, as well as the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:11.18. Linn remained unbeaten in the 100-meter freestyle, winning with a season-best time of 52.74, then Danny Mizelle (Fr., Rockville, Va.) recorded a season-best time of 2:07.41 to win the 200-meter backstroke. Mukri would pick up the last Navy victory of the day, finishing the 400-meter freestyle in a winning time of 4:07.54.

Kevin Teague (So., Lexington, Ky.) continued to dive well, winning the one-meter springboard with a score of 291.45 and the three-meter with a score of 333.22 to remain undefeated on both this year.
