Peter Linn, head coach of the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming for the past 16 years, has been elevated to head coach of both the men's and women's programs.

As the head men's coach since 1988, Linn has directed the Eagles to unprecedented success, leading the team to 14 Mid-American Conference championships. In his 16 seasons as the head coach of the men's program, Linn has posted a 125-34 overall dual meet record, 79-6 in the Mid-American Conference.

Women's head coach Sam Jalet did not have his contract renewed as part of the reorganization. The women finished 6th in the MAC.

"Peter Linn has been very crucial in making our men's swimming program one of the most successful in intercollegiate swimming and we think that he will do the same thing in revitalizing our women's team," Diles said of the change.

Linn's latest success on the men's side was the 2003-04 MAC Championships when he led the team to its fifth consecutive league crown with a MAC-record score of 1,010 points. This season, 11 EMU swimmers were named to the first team All-MAC and two were named to the second team. Yesterday, seven members of the squad were named to the Academic All-MAC team. Overall, 257 MAC Champion and 47 Academic All-MAC swimmers have competed for Linn and he has had seven teams earn NCAA Academic All-American status.
