Tulane, Drury, Wheaton (IL) and Kenyon swimmers earned CollegeSwimming.com
National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week (NCSW) honors for their performances December 3-6, 2004. The six were selected by a panel of collegiate coaches and nominated by coaches, sports information directors, conference representatives and CollegeSwimming.com staffers. The National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week Awards are underwritten by Counsilman-Hunsaker & Associates, a multi-service engineering, planning, and design firm that specializes in aquatic facilities.

Simon Burnett, University of Arizona Tetsworth, UK At the Texas Invite, Burnett swam a 200 Free (1:32.22) that broke a 17-year old U.S. Open record of 1:33.03, previously held by Matt Biondi, as well as new NCAA record. Burnett was also first in the 100 freestyle with an automatic qualifying time of 42.96. Burnett also contributed to the 200 Medley and Free Relays placing 1st and 2nd at the meet. While also leading off the first place 400 Free Relay with a time of 2:56.71. |

Linda McEachrane,
Tulane University Port of Spain, Trinidad McEachrane posted a trio of individual wins and helped four relay teams tally another quartet of victories as the Green Wave won the 2004 Giant Eagle Zips Invitational, hosted by Akron University. Over the weekend McEachrane set a school-record in the 100 Breast (1:04.31), and helped the 400 Medley Relay squad set a Tulane record with a mark of 3:55.32 (1:04.50 Breast split). McEachrane also won the 50 Free (23.60) and 100 Free (51.89). On the Tulane Free Relays McEachran swam the anchor leg of the 400 (3:31.62/51.44 split) and 800 (7:35.93/1:52.55 split), and swam the second leg of the 200 (1:36.63/24.00 split). |

University Boise, Idaho Fadel came out of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Christmas Invite with three individual NCAA A cuts in the 200 Back (2:03.44) 400 IM (4:32.49), 100 Back (57.92). The 100 Back time was swum on the 400 Medley Relay which also qualified for the Division II Championships. On the 800 Free Relay Fadal split 1:56.61 on the 3rd leg, which was good enough to place the Panthers a 2nd in the relay and second in the meet. |

Tyler Dobelbower,
Wheaton College (IL) Topeka, Kansas At the Wheaton Invitational Dobelbower won three individual events, swam legs of 2 winning medley relays and qualified for the Division III championships in six events. Dobelbower became the third-fastest person in Division III history in the 200 backstroke with his preliminary time of 1:48.00. He also won the 100 back (50.92p), 200 IM (1:51.47), and 400 IM (4:01.61). He also led off the 800 free relay with a 1:42.97 split, 200 medley relay (23.69), 400 medley relay (50.89), and had the fastest time of the meet in the 100 fly (51.43 prelims).. |

Jessica Connors, Kenyon College Cedarburg, Wisconsin Connors led the Ladies to a second place finish at the Miami University Invitational. Connors accomplishments included automatic NCAA Qualifying times in the 200 IM (2nd, 2:08.09), 100 breast (1:04.94), 100 back (58.59), and 200 breast (2:21.43). Connors also swam the breaststroke legs of 200 and 400 Medley Relay (30.44 and 1:04.87 splits respectively). |
