Conference Challenge

Objective

See if you can pick the most number of winners at this year's NCAA Division I and Division III Championships.  Each correct event winner earns a point.  You may change your selections up to 2 hours prior to finals.  After that, your selections are locked.

Making Your Picks

  1. Log into the mycollegeswimming.com.  If you don’t have a user account, you may create one for free.  [Please note, if you select a coach or SID account, your registration may be delayed as these accounts are verified prior to approval.]
  2. Once logged in, click on ‘Fantasy’.  From here you will select the meets you want to participate in from the pull-down menu.
  3. You can make and change your picks as often as you like, but your final picks must be submitted the day before the meet begins.  (Except in the case outlined in point six below).
  4. There are twenty four meets (twenty conferences) with eighteen events in each.  That’s a lot of information to digest so you probably want to pick winners from the earliest meets first, then come back and make selections for other meets later.
  5. Once you’ve selected the meet(s) you want to choose, select an event, the swimmer you think will win it and click ‘Add’.  They will then be added to your list of picks.  If you want to change your selection, simply click the red ‘x’ to delete your selection and pick again.
  6. Once you've selected your meet line-up, click 'Save'.  You will be able to change your picks up until the day of the meet.
  7. Note – we’re launching this a couple of days later than hoped for, so its possible you can ‘pick’ the first-day winners of the GLIAC, NCAC, UAA, and New South after they’ve already happened.  Yeah, it’s a flaw, a loophole and somewhat unfair, but we’re a one-man operation.

Scoring

  1. For each correct pick, you earn one point.
  2. For each correct team you earn ten points.
  3. The more conferences and more evens you make picks, the more likely you are to achieve a high score.  This is like the ACT test where you should answer every question regardless of whether you know the answer or not.
  4. There are no point deductions for incorrect picks.  They do that on the SAT test and we think its mean and penalizes risk-takers.
  5. Points will be updated in real time or at least quick as results are received from the conferences.
  6. There is no tiebreaker.

Prizes

  1. There are none.  Just the pride that comes from spending too much time checking out top times and meet results.
  2. Why is that?  Are you guys just too cheap to award prizes?
  3. Yes – we are, but that’s not the reason.  The NCAA stipulates participation in any “fantasy leagues in which an entry fee is required and there is an opportunity to win a prize” is considered sports wagering and constitutes a violation of Bylaw 10.3.   We’d hate to get you in trouble over something like a t-shirt or duffle bag or something.  Seriously, MP takes one hit off a bong and Kellogg’s dumps him?  We’re just trying to be safe here.
